As Denver’s most comprehensive neurosurgical practice, Neurosurgery One would like to welcome Denver neurosurgeon Angela M. Bohnen, MD. Dr. Bohnen will be seeing patients at our Littleton and Lone Tree offices. The fellowship-trained neurosurgeon brings with her eight years of experience treating primary, metastatic and skull base brain tumors, as well as spine disorders.
Dr. Bohnen completed her neurosurgical residency at Northwestern University in Chicago and a fellowship in neuro-oncology at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, where she studied under internationally renowned mentor Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa, MD. Her advanced training allows her to perform minimally invasive brain and spine surgery as well as awake craniotomies with brain mapping to remove cancerous lesions from functional parts of the brain. She treats a wide array of neurological disorders, including pituitary tumors, meningiomas, spinal cord tumors, herniated discs, and cervical and lumbar stenosis.
Dr. Bohnen strives to provide the best care to her patients based on each individual’s needs and believes that compassion is a catalyst for healing. She works closely with multiple specialty physicians to provide the most comprehensive and personalized treatment for her patients. She emphasizes focusing on the patient as a whole and not just the disease process, always recommending the least invasive treatments necessary to provide the best possible outcomes.
“Patients do better when they are cared for by a team of physicians from different specialties,” Dr. Bohnen says. “I hope to bring patients the feeling of being part of our family at Neurosurgery One rather than simply being a patient.”
Dr. Bohnen values education beyond our borders. While at Northwestern University, she helped pioneer a rotation in Rome, Italy, to develop collaborative relationships with international colleagues. Additionally, Dr. Bohnen believes in global education to provide local sustainable patient care. She has participated in several medical mission trips abroad and plans to continue pursuing this passion when not caring for her own patients here in Denver.
